What I will do is cry. I love crying. I wanna be a cry.
Crying is like smoking an emotional cigarette for me.
I feel a feeling, a ball forms in my throat, and then whoosh before you know it - here come the tears.
Five minutes later and everything is fine.
The circumstances haven't changed but I all of sudden feel a lil bit betta and a lil closer to a solution.
I used to think I was weak or too sensitive or something was wrong with my tear ducts.

This video was shot 11 years ago.
Wendy Williams was looking for a temporary cohost and I had one minute to tell her why I was the perfect fit.
A lot has changed since then - namely my idolization for Ms. Wendy though I wish her well.
What hasn't changed is this continuous stream of thoughts and observations.
Since 2008 I have logged almost any and every idea, concept, opinion, or musing all for the purpose of:
- Maintaining perspective
- Paying attention to what I’m thinking
- And learning about myself & the world around me.
While I no longer keep them in a big, bulky binder and now store them on my phone this activity has kept me grounded and acts as a map when I get lost.
Revisiting "posts" that I made over a decade ago is like having built-in Eureka moments at my disposal.
"Oh yeah! That's who I am. That's what I want! Dang! That's how I felt?"
They've come in handy, particularly at this stage in life where external distractions seem to be getting louder and harder to fend off.
I posted one of those "post-its" yesterday and found a few others that I'm hoping will help illuminate my path and yours. #60daysofcreativity. #tbt

I wish we had one for practice and then another one to be like...
"Mmk. I know how this works now G. Send me in I'm ready!"
But the reality is we don't. We actually have to make this one count.
This makes frivolous thinking patterns like, "wHaT wIlL tHeY sAy?" vanish almost immediately.
It brings attention to toxic relationships and dead end jobs - forcing us to consider, "Do I have time for this?"
No. No you don't. You only get one. Start living a fulfilling life with no regrets today.

The number one question I got while on social medi

The number one question I got while on social media hiatus was, “Maam are you ok?” The number two question was, “Are you still recording?” The answer is yes and yes - pen and paper, my camera, my notes app…
I am addicted to documenting big and little moments in my life. I love archiving my happiness. And take special note of the more melancholy moments - all in the name of personal development.

But something happens when that personal development is public. You start to get confused on which goals are yours and which ones are for an audience.
I wanted to see the shots my eyes were led to knowing no one would ever see. I wanted to hear the unfiltered thoughts, not the ones that were edited and polished. And I wanted to practice being present, not pressed about capturing content.
What footage would come of that?
This video was recorded in June when I was still trying to figure it out. Part IG live, part vlog, part stream-of-consciousness-style-storytelling, very much rambling. All intended to help flush out how I was feeling.
I found that while these videos were helpful to me, they still felt performative. And even though videos "perform" well on IG I was much better and could go deeper when writing.
I had to make a decision.- either I was gonna fall in line with the algorithm and all it's inauthenticity. Or lean in to my intuitive writing which I'd lost sight of on the count of creating easily digestible content.
And this is why I started Destiny's Digest. To get off the hamster wheel of cReAtInG cOnTeNt. And to get serious about creating work that moves hearts ❤️ moves minds 🧠and moves creatives 🎨 forward.

🤴🏿"I couldn't be no warrior. I'd have to be the one that stay at the hut and braid the hair"
🤴🏿"What I do with my chocolate bar?" (Fidgets profusely to find it)
🤴🏿"I know THATS right!" (Slaps leg and points at screen in laughter).
🤴🏿"Who doin the makeup in this village?"
🤴🏿"Aw shit! That must be her [spoiler] with the [spoiler] on her back?! Mark my word!"
🤴🏿"Now where I know him from? He played in sumpin"
🤴🏿"What is this?! Sprite?! I thought this was water" (Continues to sip)
🤴🏿"Now THAT'S wtf I'm talkin bout! Tell'em girl!" (Followed by a loud, lonely, embarrassing clap that I thought would never end)

Little Miss Middle Part took herself (and two edib

Little Miss Middle Part took herself (and two edibles) to the movies this weekend.
With the only drawback being that she had no one to analyze it with afterwards.
So here is her unsolicited, still slightly buzzed review of #dontworrydarling
☁️ Starts out tender, then gets trippy.
☁️ Florence Pugh is great. I will henceforth watch her in anything.
☁️ Actually the whole cast was cool. Even Harry Styles who at times, I forgot was Harry Styles.
☁️ Didn't think about the controversy surrounding the movie not one time.
☁️ The soundtrack was enjoyable. The score was a bop.
☁️ Vibrant. Visually stunning. and down-right spell-binding at times.
☁️ Very much satisfied my penchant for mid-century modern.
☁️ Very much giving I want to live there even if I have to [spoiler].
☁️ I have questions tho. Like, explain the plane. And the bizzare-banquet-scene? Did yall just want Harry Styles to dance? I'm lost.
☁️ Alotta layers - many of which weren't well developed. Tragic. Because I wanted them to progress. Not all of them. Just some. (There were like 8).
☁️ The twist made me turn my head like Scooby-Doo and it stayed there - hanging somewhere in between intrigue and confusion for the remainder of the movie.
☁️ It's like if Nope and Wandavision had a baby, gave it up for adoption to a Stepford Wife and a Mad Men who then raised it in Pleasantville.

I saw Trouble just before he died Saturday. He

I saw Trouble just before he died Saturday.
He was wearing a black Bulls jersey and a red hat.
I watched from across the bar as he made a toast, took a shot, and recorded the moment.
The light from his phone shined so bright you couldn’t help but look his way.
Sunday morning, after hearing the news I went to his page and rewatched that moment.
It was the last story he uploaded.
I didn't know Trouble personally.
He was one of those artists who managed to blend in with the rest of us despite his professional success.
These are my favorite kind of artists…
Well respected and adored but can go to a local bar without being accosted by a swarm of fans.
I've long held this belief that whenever given the opportunity, you should tell ppl, “I appreciate you”.
It’s one of my favorite things to do especially with artists.
I like to reassure these often shaky souls they are valued.
I like to give'em this bouquet of verbal flowers, in hopes that they take it with them the next time they enter the booth, the next time they sit down to write, the next time they go on set.
Imagine receiving a high-five from a stranger in the middle of a 30-mile marathon. I like being that stranger.
During the time that Trouble was at the bar, I hesitated to accomplish what normally comes naturally.
Kept saying to myself, “When he comes this way I’ll tell’em” and “Not right now Des. He talkin to somebody”.
I came up with these excuses about why this wasn’t the right time to offer this pure, simple gesture.
40 mins into his bar visit and it was too late. I watched as Trouble walked out of the back door alone.
I’d missed my opportunity to give him his flowers.
This has been my modus operandi for some time now - hesitating to do things that come naturally, slow to execute ideas, doubtful in my creative endeavors, indecisive, reluctant, bashful even.
I’ve come up with these excuses that all arrive at the same conclusion “Not today Des. Maybe tomorrow”.
I’m sharing this story with you because it’s amazing what witnessing the last few hours of someone’s life will do to shatter the belief that we have til tomorrow.
Grateful to have another day to add to my story.
